Easy Homemade Pizza Recipe
Make your Pizza Sauce first or have a can of sauce handy, then make the pizza crust. Make sure you grate some cheese too.
Pizza sauce is easy to make and sometimes I just use spaghetti sauce, and after I spread it on the crust, I sprinkle extra garlic and oregano on it. There are some recipes below.
The pizza in the picture was made using the recipe below. It makes enough for 2 pizzas or one large pizza. If you don't have any yeast, make a Pizza Crust using baking powder such as in Pizza Crust #2. Also check out Pizza Bites, on the refrigerator biscuits page.
Pizza Crusts
Make 1 large pan or 2 pizza pan size. Eat one freeze the other.- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 1/2 cups flour
Dissolve the yeast in warm water Mix in rest of ingredients in order given. Let sit in a covered bowl for 5 min. Grease 2 pizza pans (don't use oil)
Divide dough in half. Plop half the dough in center of each pan and spread to edges with your hands. If the dough is too sticky add a little flour. You can also butter your fingers.
Spread your Pizza Sauce on, Add your choice of meats and veggies.
If you want a thin crust, cook it now. If you want a thick crust, cover the pizza with Saran wrap and let rise on top of the stove for an hour.
Preheat oven to 425°. Cook on lowest rack in oven for 10 min. then take out, sprinkle with your cheeses, and put back in oven for 5 more minutes.
If the pizza is frozen, put on lowest rack in oven at 425 for 15 minutes, take out, put on cheeses, put back in oven for 5 min or until cheese melts.
My Note: This is the recipe I have used for years.
Pizza Crust Dough
- 1 Tbsp. yeast
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. salad oil
- 3 c. flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water, then add sugar, salt, oil, and flour, and knead until it is smooth. Let rise until double in bulk, then roll out on two pizza pans and top with your favorite toppings.
I put the pizza in the oven for 10 minutes at 425°, and have now added the cheese and pepperoni. I'll put it back in the oven for 5 minutes so the cheese will melt. You have to use the lower rack in your oven, otherwise the crust on the bottom will be soft.
Pizza Crust #2 - No Yeast Recipe
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup. oil
Mix altogether. Spread thin on cookie sheet
Bisquick Pizza Crust
- 1 1/2 cups Bisquick baking mix
- 1/3 cup very hot water
- 1 tsp vegetable oil
Heat oven to 450°. Mix the Bisquick and water about 20 times. Turn onto a surface well dusted with Bisquick mix and roll to coat it. Knead the dough until smooth and no longer sticky, about 60 times. Roll into a 12 inch circle and place on a greased 12 inch cookie sheet, brush the top with oil.
Put your desired ingredients on top. Bake on lowest oven rack until crust is brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
